The other day I was asked about what companies have done to take advantage of technological advances to improve their results.
Technology has evolved by leaps and bounds and companies must prepare for a new scenario, by aligning new technologies with their management solutions to leverage results.
The first step is finding out about the technologies being developed in their segment. A very large number of technology startups are being created all the time around the world. The Internet enables researching about and contacting these startups. There are also accelerators, incubators and organizations that do matchmaking between companies and startups in Brazil, the United States, Israel and Portugal, for example.
A continuous system for surveying technological advances will undoubtedly lead to the generation of new ideas that can be introduced into the processes of companies for the sake of better results.
FALCONI has built an ecosystem composed of startups, already established technology companies, universities and research companies, to identify and cooperate with these organizations, creating a link between them and their solutions in order to solve its clients’ problems.
This requires breaking down the results of organizations to the level of operating indicators, to identify the processes responsible for the performance of these indicators. Based on this results breakdown, the main problems of the company can be identified, i.e., where the greatest differences are between the goal and what was achieved, and assess the application of these technologies in the processes for solving these problems.
The application of startup technology solutions to solve internal process problems of companies reveals one of the most disruptive management practices at present – open innovation, whose foundations are:
CLOSED INNOVATION VS OPEN INNOVATION
Another important practice is more agile application of the PDCA method – PDCAgile. The use of agile design technologies, such as design sprints for solving problems, has yielded faster results.
Technology strengthens results from the application of problem solving methods in companies – PDCAgile + Technology = Exponential results.
And as a manager? What do I need to do to improve my results?
Look outside the company: research which existing technology could be applied to the company’s processes; identify a problem that could be solved with technology, do a test, “rotate the PDCA cycle” and see the results – you’ll be surprised.
